Yes, although strikes are not emphasized in Aikido.

For the most part no,the closest thing to grappling is Suwari Waza or
knee walk were techniques are performed,we do have arm bars,knee
bars and chokes.

The rules in MMA state that small joint manipulation is illegal,this
eliminates a major portion of Aikido,but other techniques and the foot
work learned in Aikido would be very beneficial .
Question:Are there weapons in Aikido?
Yes, weapons in Aikido consist of the Jo or staff,Bokken or wooden
sword,Tanto or wooden knife,training in offense and defense.
Question: Are there Katas in Aikido?
Yes, there are Kata's for the Jo and Bokken.

No you do not need a uniform to start class,just ware loose clothing.

It depends on the ability of the individual,however in most cases about 5 years.

This seems to be a new trend in recruitment for an increasing amount of Do Jo's,if you should be told this is necessary,ask the instructor to whom you are registering with and if you are told a specific place your hands will be registered call that organization.
